Maryland Grain
Producers Association Offers Social Media Training Workshop
Twitter. Facebook. YouTube. Blogs. Today’s
farmers have a whole new set of tools to use on the farm
when it comes to communicating the importance of what we’re
doing. The Maryland Grain Producers Association
(MGPA), in affiliation with the National Corn Growers
Association, is sponsoring a Social Media Training Workshop
on July 13 in Annapolis to teach supporters of agriculture
how to understand and use these tools as our world moves
into new forms of disseminating information.
“People who question our industry have
these tools to use and it is vitally important that we know
how to respond,” comments Chip Bowling, MGPA President.
“We invite farmers and agribusiness people who are committed
to not only attend this class, but to use the skills and
knowledge they receive to become spokespersons for
agriculture in these new venues.”
Workshop trainer Michele Payn-Knoper is a
professional speaker, writer and consultant who shares our
passion for agriculture and communicating it to a global
audience. She is also one of the foremost experts on using
social media tools to get your messages out. Michele holds
degrees in Agricultural Communications and Animal Science
from Michigan State University, and is a registered Holstein
breeder.
The Social Media Training Workshop
will be held on Tuesday, July 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m. at the Courtyard Annapolis, and includes lunch.
There is no cost to the workshop, however registration is
required and space is limited. Please contact Laurie
Adelhardt, MGPA Public Relations Coordinator, at
PR@marylandgrain.com
or call 410-208-9701. This is a hands-on training, so
participants will need to bring a computer to the workshop.
