USING GRAIN OUTDOORS
bulletBoats
Honeycomb panels made from a variety of agricultural fibers including kenaf and wheat straw, are incredibly strong, lightweight and formaldehyde-free, and will not off-gas during fabrication or after installation. They have the bending strength of low density particle board at less than half the weight, making them ideal for boat interiors.

bulletFeed and animal care
Bedding products for small and large animals are made from grain straw and stalks.  Plant-based newspapers are used for cow bedding materials.  Corn, barley, oats, and sorghum also serve as livestock and poultry feeds, as well as pet food.  Corn gluten meal supplies vitamins, minerals and energy in poultry feeds;  pet food processors value it for its high digestibility and low residue.

bulletFirefighting
The most advanced environmental firefighting foam designed for the modern needs of firefighters is grain-based. It is non-corrosive, biodegradable, and has an extremely low level of toxicity.  It is the ideal foam for use where Class B Hydrocarbon fires are present such as petrochemical refineries, distribution depots, harbors, chemical industries, airports, road and rail tankers, rubber manufacturing and storage facilities.

Golf tees
Millions of golf tees are sold yearly in the United States.  The main ingredient in biodegradable golf tees is starch derived from annually renewable grain resources.  They also contain biodegradable additives and small amounts of inorganic minerals.  They are light in weight, paint free, stronger, reusable, and totally biodegradable.  Their usage replaces the use of wooden tees, saving thousands of trees yearly.  Plastic golf tees can litter a golf course for over 500 years, and wooden tees for 4 years.  Starch tees decompose quickly into water, carbon dioxide and biomass.  The tees even help to retain soil moisture during decomposition.

Potting mix
Peat is a finite and mostly imported raw material.  A soil-free potting mix made from kenaf eliminates the need for peat and provides a nutrient-rich growing mix for plants.

Remediation products
A full line of absorbents and remediation products made from agricultural crops encapsulate and break down hydrocarbons and certain chemicals. These products are used for cleaning up water spills, acid spills, hard surface spills, and bacterial digestion of waste.  For remediation of soil contaminated with crude oil and other hydrocarbons, a combination of kenaf, indigenous microbes, and essential nutrients is tilled with contaminated soil, reducing contamination levels 60 percent overnight.

Small engines
A recent test of small two-cycle engines using Ethanol blends found that after more than 1,300 hours of rigorous operation, not a single fuel-related problem was detected. The following manufacturers and distributors include Ethanol blends under their warranty coverage: Sears, John Deere, Lawn Boy, Polaris, Skidoo, Briggs and Stratton, Tecumseh, and Evinrude.
