MGPUB Joins FlexFuel Vehicle Awareness Campaign
Grain producers from the state of
Maryland announced they have awarded a
grant to the Clean Fuels Foundation to increase the sale
of high level ethanol blends and support
local E85 stations.
The National FlexFuel Vehicle
Awareness Campaign is a statewide
program to increase awareness among
owners of flexible fuel vehicles that
are capable of utilizing ethanol blends
up to 85%.

Public-Private Funded Alternative Fuel
Station Features B20 Biodiesel, E85
Ethanol and Propane Autogas
Phillips Energy, Inc.,
opens a new public 24-hour fueling
facility includes B20 biodiesel, E85
ethanol, and propane Autogas as well as
gasoline and diesel. The facility will
be the first privately owned station in
Virginia to dispense three different
alternative fuels, and was partially
through a Department of Energy's Clean
Cities program grant.

Applauds Kratovil Vote on Cuba Trade and
Travel Bill
MGPA applauded the House Agriculture
Committee's passage of a bill that would
significantly ease agricultural trade
and travel restrictions with Cuba.
Congressman Frank Kratovil voted for the
measure to support Maryland agriculture
in spite of his concerns over the travel
restrictions in the legislation.

Grant Awards in excess of $950,000
The Maryland Grain Producers Utilization
Board awarded grants totaling $950,000 for their 2011 grant program to assist in the improvement of the grain
industry. Funded through a grain checkoff program, the
grant program supports research,
marketing and education programs conducted by
extension research facilities, nonprofit organizations, and educational
institutions.
